ADA, Okla. – The East Central University Tiger Esports season comes to a close Thursday, Dec. 11 after a successful fall semester, ending with two significant accomplishments.
“The program carries 63 student athletes who compete online against schools across the nation,” said ECU Tiger Esports Director, Cody Soden. “This season two of our teams walked away with championships!”
On Nov. 20, the League of Legends varsity team competed in this fall’s Great American Conference (GAC), winning Tiger Esports first-ever GAC championship.
“After a hard-fought battle against Southern Nazarene University, the tigers took the trophy, winning our first Great American Conference championship,” said Soden.
Following this victory on Dec. 3, the Super Smash Bros. team competed in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Division 5 Championship against Sonoma State University, securing a second major win for Tiger Esports this fall and the first title achieved by the Super Smash Bros. team.
This season’s accomplishments follow the League of Legends victory at the NECC Division 7 West National Championship in the fall of 2024 and their participation in the first-ever GAC competition for Esports the same semester.
Tryouts for the Spring 2026 Esports seasons are scheduled for Jan. 26-30. The season will begin on Monday, Feb. 2.
